Receiving is as Important as Giving
I've learned that many people find it very challenging to receive, especially females since it is still common for us to be programmed early in life to be the givers, always the caretakers. Giving and receiving circulates the flow of energy. Both are very important for attracting prosperity and abundance.
Showing gratitude when we are given something (including compliments) is also highly important since it keeps the doors open for more to come into our lives. This doesn't mean we are obligated to keep a gift -- we always have the right to do anything we want to with it. It's the gratitude that makes the difference energetically. A thank you to those giving to us and/or thanking God (or the Universe) works wonders!
As with giving, there are times when it isn't in our best interest to receive. When someone is giving to us with strings attached or attempting to manipulate us with a gift (including money), we can say "no" and refuse it. This kind of giving carries a very low frequency and therefore, doesn't feel good at all when we are presented with the gift. Saying "no" in these kind of situations keeps the energy flowing and the doors open for wonderful things to come to us.

Chyrene, you are so right! I learned only a couple years ago that I needed to accept gifts graciously. Giving has never been a problem. (and giving without expecting anything in return is important).... so when suddenly faced with something in return my first tendancy would be to refuse since I didn't give to receive... now I have to remember to graciously accept... to keep that flow of positive energy you speak of. (and sometimes it isn't clear because the gift coming to me is not nessarily coming from the recipient of my giving) Did I just make sense... [lol] Wow! I really like your blog... thanks for visiting mine so I could discover yours!
You're welcome Marie and thank you for your compliment and great comments - you made perfect sense! And you are absolutely correct, giving without expecting anything in return is very important.
